MATCH REPORT (PSF): AFC Wulfrunians 2-2 Stourbridge

Steven Beech22 Aug 2020 - 17:42

Stour's first pre-season fixture with supporters in attendance ends in a score draw with AFC Wulfrunians at Castlecroft.

Stourbridge continued their 2020-21 Southern Premier Central preparations with a 2-2 draw at AFC Wulfrunians, who had three ex-Glassboys in their ranks, James Spray, Chris Knight and keeper Tom Hayward.

The match kicked off a few minutes early and the Glassboys found themselves trailing before the clock had ticked round to 3 pm!

Spray opened up the visitors defence with a through pass and Till produced a tidy low finish past Charlie Price.

Trialist C scored his second goal in two games to level up the scoring for Mark Yates' side when he converted a left-wing cross from Jordaan Brown into the middle.

Charlie Price was proving to be the busier of the two keepers as he was forced into a good save on 12 minutes to keep out a Ben Jeavons header from a free-kick out on the left and he also turned a driven 30-yard free-kick from Spray over the bar.

Wulfrunians then missed a golden opportunity on 31 minutes to take the lead from the spot after a clumsy shirt tug by Trialist B gave the referee no choice but to hand the home side a penalty kick, but Charlie Price was equal to the effort from Spray to push away down to his right.

Stour then took a lead of their own five minutes before the interval when Darryl Knights calmly stroked home a rebound after Richard Peniket rode a challenge before seeing his shot blocked by Hayward.

The home side levelled up at 2-2 eight minutes after the break when the home side took advantage of some sloppy Stourbridge play, which led to Riley being dispossessed and the ball rolled into the path of Spray who tucked his shot past Price.

Substitute Chay Tilt was denied in the 83rd minute after receiving a raking diagonal pass on the right-hand edge of the box. He cracked in a shot that was parried away, so it finished all-square in what Mark Yates will see as a valuable workout for his squad ahead of Monday night's trip to Coleshill Town.

STARTING XI:

Price, Green, Brown, Trialist A, Trialist B, Riley, Bustin, Knights, Peniket, Trialist C, Mills.

**Alex Nicholls, Andre Landell and Kieran Morris also got valuable minutes under their belts in the second 45 minutes**
