After a successful trial period over the summer, Elliott Durrell has officially become part of Liam McDonald’s side ahead of the new campaign.

The central midfielder started his non league career in 2007 with Telford United where he enjoyed a loan spell with Rushall Olympic before moving to his boy hood club Hednesford Town where he enjoyed a successful six year spell and picked up the Northern Premier League’s player of the season during the 2012-13 season.

After 6 years at Keys Park, he made the switch across the border to Wrexham, who were playing their trade in the conference national, at the start of the 2014-15 season. The following season he linked up with Tamworth before moving to Chester before the 2016-17 season began.

He was an ever present feature in the national league for Chester during that season back in the National Lague whilst also graduating from the V9 academy which was set up by Jamie Vardy to help non league players sign for professional clubs.

After graduating from the V9 Academy, he signed a two year deal with Macclesfield Town where he made 35 appearances as they went on to win the league and get the club back into the football league. He would go on to make his professional debut against MK Dons in November 2017 after also appearing in the FA Cup and EFL Trophy.

He returned to non league for the start of the 2019 season with York City before moving closer to home with Altrincham in February 2020. He helped to get Alrincham promoted back into the national league before returning to Wrexham for a second time when football returned.

A brief spell back at AFC Telford United followed after the expiration of his contract at Wrexham before he linked up with Grantham Town where former bucks manager Dennis Greene was in the dugout. He spent most of last season with Gloucester City before joining up with Liam McDonald’s new look Glassboys at the start of the season.

Its been an enjoyable preseason for Elliott who, on putting pen to paper, said “I am delighted to be joining Stourbridge. It’s a club who were always in and around it during the early years of my career and were a force to be reckoned with.

For whatever reason, that's not been the case for the last couple of seasons but the club have shown real intent and ambition with the appointment of the gaffer and his staff. It’s exciting to be part of the squad the gaffer has assembled and we’re confident we can have a successful season and play a brand of football the fans will enjoy watching.”

Welcome to the Glassboys, Elliott!
